What is chiropractic?
After 5 years of university and clinical training, Chiropractors understand and work to maintain the central nervous system and spine. They maintain and improve spinal health and aim to help people recover from various injuries and pain, naturally.
Picture the spine, a column of stacked vertebrae and cartilage. When the column finds itself out of alignment, chiropractic adjustments aim to reduce pain and increased normal mobility and function by restoring correct movement pattens to the spine and joints. Various techniques, both manual and instrument assisted, can be used depending on the individual and your needs and comfort.
Common conditions that Medela chiropractic can manage:

BACK PAIN

NECK PAIN

Headache & migraines

Extremity pain

Joint pain & dysfunction

Scoliosis management

Sports injuries

About Me
Dr Sarah Young (Chiropractor) had her first chiropractic treatment when she was 11 years old. For most of her childhood, she had chronic sinus, allergies and headaches. It affected her schooling and ability to play sport. The hospital called her “the happy little wheezer” and she was on an array of medications. In desperation, her parents were referred by a family friend to the local chiropractor. It was the only thing that they had not tried. After treatment, her health improved, she was taken off all medication and thrived. She continued chiropractic care and it became a lifelong goal to become a chiropractor.
Dr Sarah Young (Chiropractor) holds a Masters of Clinical Chiropractic and a Bachelor of Science degree in both Chiropractic and Biomedicine from Central Queensland University. Sarah enjoys working with people from all walks of life and has a strong interest in women’s health and treating families.
Now Sarah is starting her own practice at Medela Chiropractic, catering to a wide range of individuals, families and their various needs. She uses a wide variety of techniques to ensure that she creates long-lasting changes and improvements in all her patients.

What to expect at Medela Chiropractic
Coming to see a chiropractor can be daunting, especially when it is your first time. Once you have made your booking for a time that suits you, an email will be sent to confirm your time and answer any questions you may have. In order to help you the best way we can, you will be asked to fill out some basic, initial paperwork. This will outline your current problem, past health conditions and profile. This will be emailed to you in your Welcome to Medela Chiropractic and Appointment Confirmation email
Step 1 - Initial appointment
To give you the best care, we must find if chiropractic is the right choice for you. A complete history is taken where we listen to you and determine your health care goals.
Our priority is to make you feel understood.
If in consulting with you we believe that chiropractic can help, then a physical examination will take place. However, if we feel that your situation would be better managed elsewhere, we will never be afraid to refer you to the right person to help.
Step 2 - Examination
To establish a complete picture of your current problem, a comprehensive exam is performed. This will include chiropractic, neurological, orthopaedic and musculoskeletal testing where, depending on your case, X-rays maybe requested. X-rays are conducted offsite and bulk billed through Medicare.
The cause of pain is not always where the pain itself is, and so we will examine the body as a whole and not just where you are in pain.
Once the examination is finished, the findings will be explained in a way easy to understand. Any questions will be answered so that you have a full understanding of what your body is experiencing.
Step 3 - Treatment Recommendations
Your condition will be explained in further detail and a personalised treatment plan is presented to get you feeling and functioning better. Testing results, treatment options, recovery times and costing will all be explained.
Step 4 - the 1st adjustment
After the assessment and if in consultation with you we consider it appropriate, you will be adjusted. The appropriate technique will be chosen depending on you, your comfort and preferences and the assessed condition you are experiencing.
Step 5 - Review of treatment progress
To make sure that your condition is improving, we perform a reassessment at regular intervals. This enables us to continue to tailor your treatment to reach your goals.
